About the speakers

Phil Bravo has spent more than 20 years working to build and scale nonprofit organizations, creating meaningful impact in communities around the world. With a track record of success as an innovative nonprofit arts leader at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, and the New England Conservatory, Phil has spearheaded national and international initiatives, including YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), the Carnegie Hall’s PlayUSA grantmaking program, and Schmidt Future’s Rise Global Summit. Phil’s expertise in managing large-scale budgets, crafting and executing strategic plans, and leading organizational growth is driven by a commitment to fostering positive change and building strong relationships. 

Susan Feder is a program officer in the Arts and Culture program at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (AC), with responsibility for performing arts and related organizations.  Working within AC, across the Foundation’s other program areas, and with leading national and regional arts service organizations, she has helped oversee a broad diversification of AC’s portfolio and range of supported activities.  Before joining the Foundation, as vice president of the music publisher G. Schirmer, Inc., she developed the careers of many leading composers in the United States, Europe, and the former Soviet Union.  Earlier in her career, she was editorial coordinator of The New Grove Dictionary of American Music (1986), program editor at the San Francisco Symphony, and an award-winning freelance writer on music.  Ms. Feder obtained degrees in musicology from Princeton University (where she currently serves on the Music Department Advisory Council), and the University of California, Berkeley.

Each month, we explore important topics that impact our community, with discussions ranging from personal stories to industry challenges and triumphs. The specific theme of each session will be announced ahead of time, offering a space for dialogue, learning, and mutual support.
